Keeping My Human Warm - by Peaches

I know I prance around strutting my stuff but I bet you didn't know I have a Winter Job!  Some have summer jobs, but mine starts with the chill of winter  It's MY daily responsibility to keep my human warm and toasty for the season.  This is not as easy as it sounds.  Her face gets cold so I have to make sure my ear is warming everything up!

I am a very responsible cat. Why sometimes I'll sprawl all the way across her shoulder to make sure everything is warmed up properly.  Sometimes I slide off but I give it my all.  Of course my human complains that my ear,as velvety and soft as it is, is blocking her view of the television. Can you imagine! Try as I might you can't please humans all the time. But I'm in there pitching every night!

Black Friday for Cats!

Good morning, Peaches here! I believe my sis-fur Paprika may have a "criminal" streak! She dragged me out of my warm bed at 4AM, blindfolded me, and when I opened my eyes, she told me we were in a place called "MALL." She said  humans go there to get things for cats the day after Thanksgiving.  "We'll get our OWN things," she told me, since humans never get us enough good catnip.

Toy Mice, Wands, Fish, Cheap Thrills Catnip, we got it all!

No one noticed as we slinked out of the mall...but will we get arrested?  -- Peaches the cat

Paprika-Peach Pie Recipe - Thanksgiving

We have to be honest, it's REALLY  called Paprika Peach Pie.  I objected to Paprika being named first but was not given a choice! It's a wonderful pie though! We posted the recipe last year from The Table blog, and it was so yummy we hope you will not mind seeing it again!  Cooking is really a good deal, since we get to taste once in a while and wear fetching caps! - Peaches the cat

PAPRIKA-PEACH PIE from "THE TABLE" BLOG (used with permission)

Ingredients
         For the crust
         2 1/2 cups flour
         1 tbs. sugar
         1 tsp. salt
2 sticks (1 cup) butter, very cold
         1/2 cup ice water

         For the pie filling
6 peaches, sliced (about 5 cups)
         2 tbs. lemon juice
1/3 -2/3 cups sugar (to taste)
         1/4 cup brown sugar
         3 tbs. potato starch
         1 tbs. sweet paprika
         1/3 tsp. white pepper
         1/4 tsp. allspice
         1/4 tsp. ginger
         1/4 tsp. salt
         2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
         1 tbs. cream

         turbinado sugar, for dusting

Instructions
1  Make the pie dough: Whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. Using a pastry cutter, cut in the cold butter until just blended. Add the ice water, and then fold the ingredients together with a spatula until they're just moistened. Be sure not to overwork the dough. Divide the dough in half, and form each half into a disc. Wrap the discs tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least an hour but up to two days.
To make the pie: Take out a disc of the dough and roll it out in a circle to fit the pie pan. (I always roll out the dough between two sheets of wax paper because it's easier to transfer from the counter to the pan). Lightly press the 1  dough in the bottom of the pie pan, and then refrigerate the pan and the crust.

2  Peel and slice the peaches. Toss them with the lemon juice, 1/3 cup of sugar, brown sugar, potato starch, sweet paprika, pepper, allspice, ginger, and salt. If you think the filling needs to be sweeter, add additional sugar. Add the ingredients to the pie pan, and then return the pie to the refrigerator.
3  Roll out the second disc of dough to make the top crust. Lay the crust across the pan and crimp the edges. Return the pie to the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is cold.
Preheat the oven to 425. Brush the top of the pie with the cream, and then sprinkle with the turbinado sugar. Bake at 425 for 20 minutes, and then lower the heat to 375. Continue baking for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling. Enjoy!

Happy National Button Day

Our human advised us last night we were in for another "dress for success" event as it is National Button Day today, November 16.  She found some amazing outfits for us.    All we had to do was sit there, and look cute while she dressed us up with her computer software!  Our human says buttons are really useful for decorative crafts and getting our clothes to stay  on.  All we can say is...as cats we couldn't care less about keeping our clothes on, though.  Happy button day to all you crafters!

Today we're joining Comedy Plus' Feline Friday and of course the beloved Cat Blogosphere.

Taking Up All the Space - by Peaches the cat

Now that winter's here, I searched for and found a wonderful new place to hang out. Unfortunately there was COMPETITION!

I exchanged points of view with "my competition!"

I had no choice but to pretend to "cooperate" while not moving at all!
I couldn't really stay there though and I found a new place but my human wasn't happy with the new location either!
This little story has a happy ending...my human was so happy to have the "lump" (me) out from under her covers that she let me hang out here a while in my chosen place after all!  Don't know how long I''ll get to stay here though...

National Happy Hour Day - Celebrate!

We learned through the "grapevine" there is a day called "National Happy Hour Day." And it is NOW!  Although our human is not much into drinking, the least we could do was investigate....

CHAOS NEVER DIES DAY

"CHAOS NEVER DIES" DAY- Another fine day MADE for cats! We awoke this morning to find that, to our delight, our human had decided (AGAIN) to reorganize the den!

I Recued this box just in time from being carried to the BASEMENT! - Paprika the Cat
We lost no time in taking part in the task by selecting an appropriate box, of which there were dozens. Don't YOU think that Chaos Day provides a purrr-fect napping opportunity for cats?

The premise of ""CHAOS NEVER DIES" day is that chaos is in all our lives for the long haul, so we may as well lean back and enjoy it a little...

Today we're joining Feline Friday's hop hosted by Comedy Plus blog.

Election Day U.S.A.

Paprika is all excited about there being a Ballot BOX and she insisted we head right over there to warm it up.  Will she get out if a REAL voter arrives?  I'll take care of THAT! Hoping everyone in our U.S. gets out to vote today.

Fall back time Drama

Fall back, Shmall back. When will humans get it that we don't like their silly rules about changing "times."  Unless it means we get fed early!

We are joining Cat on My Head's Sunday Hop today where we see many kitties spreading peace and good will.
